Mexican towns host environmental education and tree‑planting events for World Environment Day

In Cozumel, the Fundación de Parques y Museos de Cozumel organized a child‑focused bike ride and environmental‑learning activities in Parque Urbano Corazón. Children aged 7‑11 rode bicycles and skateboards through the park’s natural trails, observed local flora and fauna, and took part in games designed to raise awareness of biodiversity. The event was linked to the New Agreement for the Welfare and Development of Quintana Roo promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, with director Juanita Alonso Marrufo emphasizing the goal of fostering a generation committed to environmental stewardship.

Meanwhile, in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, municipal authorities, the Howard Hendricks Institute and local NGOs carried out a second "Árboles para el Mañana" reforestation drive on World Environment Day. Participants planted native trees along Av. Oaxaca, in public garden beds and in Parque Villa Primavera, involving children, teachers, parents and officials. The effort aimed to strengthen community consciousness about protecting natural resources and to restore native vegetation in the coastal tourist area.
