Mexican Universities Strengthen Leadership and Community Programs

The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, approved the continuation of Salvador Morales Riubí as rector of the Universidad Tecnológica de Tijuana (UTT) for the 2026‑2030 term. Morales’ tenure saw enrollment rise above 6,000 students, an expanded portfolio of undergraduate and engineering degrees, and the creation of a graduate and research division offering three master’s programmes.

In Coahuila, the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila launched LobosCamp 2026 across three regional units, hosting more than 1,200 children in two‑week camps that combined cultural, sports, recreational and educational activities. The initiative, coordinated by rector Octavio Pimentel Martínez and university extension staff, was supported by local institutions such as DIF Coahuila and aimed to reinforce the university’s social responsibility and community engagement.
