Mexican water agencies launch restoration projects in Tlaxcala and Morelos

The National Water Commission (Conagua) and the municipal water authority Capam began a joint surveillance operation in Tlaxcala to locate and eliminate illegal wastewater discharges that threaten local infrastructure and ecosystems. The program includes technical monitoring of barrancas, environmental restoration, and door‑to‑door community outreach to encourage reporting of irregular connections.

In Morelos, state water agency Ceagua inspected the “Los Arcos” storage basin in the Jantetelco ejido, noting damage to its impermeable layer that has caused water leakage and reduced irrigation capacity. Ceagua plans further technical reviews and rehabilitation actions funded by the 2027 Hydro‑agricultural Infrastructure Support Program, with cooperation from the municipal president.
