Mexican Water Conservation Projects Advance in San Juan del Río and Tamaulipas

The municipal water authority (JAPAM) of San Juan del Río handed over the restored regulation bord known as “El Cajete” in the Puerta de Palmillas ejido. The work, carried out under the Raíces del Agua program with the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR) and local ejidatarios, aims to capture rainwater, promote infiltration, and recharge the city’s aquifer that supplies drinking water to residents.

In Tampico and Ciudad Madero, COMAPA Sur continued its permanent “Protectores del Agua” school program, conducting workshops at the Leona Vicario and Melchor Ocampo primary schools. The initiative educates students on the water cycle, responsible use, and conservation practices, supporting the state water‑resources secretariat’s effort to foster a culture of water stewardship among the region’s youth.
