Mexicana de Aviación adds new aircraft and launches 19th route

The state-owned carrier Mexicana de Aviación is expanding its fleet to a total of 20 aircraft. Seven Embraer E190/E195‑E2 jets are already in service, five more are scheduled to arrive this year, and eight additional planes are planned for delivery by 2027. The expansion is part of a broader consolidation plan announced by Defense Secretary Ricardo Trevilla Trejo and supported by President Claudia Sheinbaum, who highlighted the airline’s role in creating jobs and offering low‑cost travel.

In July the airline opened its 19th route, linking the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) with the Bajío International Airport (BJX) in Guanajuato. The service operates weekdays with early‑morning departures for business travelers and a relaxed Sunday schedule for leisure passengers, further extending Mexicana’s domestic network.
