Mexico adds new domestic flight routes by Volaris and Viva

Volaris began operating a Tijuana‑Mérida service on 1 June, offering four weekly Airbus A320 flights with 180‑seat capacity. The route is promoted by Yucatán Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena as a boost for tourism, investment and family travel between the northwest border region and the southeast.

Viva launched a San Luis Potosí‑Monterrey connection on 30 June, providing three weekly flights that cut travel time between the two industrial states. The service is aimed at business travelers, tourists and students, and links Monterrey’s hub to over 45 domestic and international destinations.

Both routes are part of a broader effort to improve Mexico’s regional air connectivity and support economic development.
