Mexico advances 55 renewable energy projects

Mexico is advancing 55 new renewable energy projects aimed at strengthening the nation's sustainable energy capacity. According to Energy Secretary Luz Elena González, 17 of these projects are privately owned and are expected to add nearly 3,000 megawatts to the national power grid.

The remaining 38 projects are being developed through mixed schemes involving the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE). This strategy seeks to create synergy between public and private investment while allowing the state to maintain a leading role in energy management and strategic planning.

During the ‘Investment in Infrastructure as a Growth Detonator: Opportunities of the Plan Mexico’ forum, business leaders emphasized the need for a stable and predictable legal framework to attract long-term investment. José Medina Mora, president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), highlighted the importance of simplifying regulations to ensure energy remains accessible and competitive.
