Mexico advances Vivienda para el Bienestar housing program

The Mexican government is expanding its 'Vivienda para el Bienestar' (Housing for Well-being) program through various federal agencies, including INFONAVIT, FOVISSSTE, and CONAVI. In Quintana Roo, INFONAVIT recently delivered 288 homes in the Puerto Maya development in Puerto Aventuras. The agency has set a six-year goal of 62,000 homes for the state, with 29,000 already under contract.

Nationally, INFONAVIT reports that 488 developments have been approved, representing 560,000 homes, which is 47% of its six-year target. The program also includes the 'INFONAVIT Solución Integral' initiative, which has restructured over 4.8 million unpayable credits.

In Michoacán, a project in Morelia is underway to construct 2,000 homes specifically for individuals without formal social security benefits. Meanwhile, FOVISSSTE is working toward a national goal of 1.8 million homes and has resumed its role in constructing social housing, targeting 100,000 homes for state workers earning between one and two minimum wages.
