Mexico allocates over 104 million pesos for Juárez hospital upgrades

The State Health Secretariat of Chihuahua announced an investment exceeding 104 million pesos to remodel three major hospitals in Ciudad Juárez: the General Hospital, the Children’s Specialty Hospital, and the Women’s Hospital. The General Hospital’s operating rooms and ambulatory surgery area will receive about 25 million pesos, a project the secretary of health, Gilberto Baeza Mendoza, said has "already been awarded" and will begin in the coming weeks with completion expected before the end of the year.

The upgrades are aimed at serving roughly 1.54 million residents of Juárez, Ahumada, Guadalupe and Praxedes G. Guerrero municipalities. Additional funding includes 29.18 million pesos for the Children’s Specialty Hospital (planned for 2025‑2026) and over 50 million pesos for the Women’s Hospital (2024‑2025). A new primary‑care health center is also planned at the Kilometer 20 sector. Baeza Mendoza noted that a new state hospital in Juárez is not under consideration in the short term.
