Mexico and Argentina launch reforms to simplify SME regulations

In Mexico, the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur) urged the government to adopt a simplification agenda for the 6.1 million micro, small and medium enterprises that form the country’s economic base. President Octavio de la Torre emphasized a single‑window service for business opening and operation, digital file management to eliminate duplicate paperwork, and clear deadlines for permits and licenses, aiming to reduce costs, curb corruption and promote formalisation of family‑run firms.

In Argentina, Minister Federico Sturzenegger presented a package of reforms at the National Congress aimed at cutting administrative burdens for SMEs. The measures include labour‑law changes to lower tax burdens on hiring, streamlined capital‑market rules that remove prior approvals for small securities issuances, greater autonomy for companies under a revised Companies Law, proposals to enable direct overseas postal exports, and the promotion of digital signatures to speed contracts and lower paperwork costs.
