Mexico and Canada discuss security cooperation

Mexico’s Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, met with representatives from the Business Council of Canada to discuss strengthening bilateral security cooperation. The Canadian delegation was led by President and CEO Goldy Hyder.

During the meeting, García Harfuch presented updates on the security strategy implemented by the Mexican government under President Claudia Sheinbaum. Discussions focused on enhancing intelligence and investigation capabilities, as well as expanding the exchange of best practices and knowledge in areas such as cybersecurity.

The dialogue aims to bolster regional economic activity and protect investments. The Business Council of Canada has emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between Mexico, Canada, and the United States, particularly regarding the upcoming USMCA review and its potential impact on North American investment stability.
