Latin American regions implement water and infrastructure projects
Various regional infrastructure and water utility updates have been reported across Latin America.
In Mexico, several sanitation and water projects are underway. In Tequisquiapan, a 3-million-peso drainage project has begun in the La Charretera neighborhood, benefiting 120 residents. In Tijuana, the CESPT is constructing a water network to connect 128 homes in the Viñedos colony. Additionally, Siapa has approved an 80% discount on water bills for 203 colonies in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area due to water quality issues, though local mayors have contested the scope of the list. In Tampico and Ciudad Madero, COMAPA Sur has replaced over 63 kilometers of piping to strengthen water and drainage networks.
In Argentina, Governor Marcelo Orrego announced that the Vicuña mining project will provide a $250 million investment for provincial infrastructure, including water and sanitation works, which is expected to generate significant local employment. In Ecuador, the government is allocating $1.4 million for sanitation and sewerage works in the Manabí province, specifically benefiting over 3,400 inhabitants in the Montecristi canton.
In Peru, the Minister of Housing intends to accelerate the fourth stage of the Juliaca water project to avoid further delays in the San Román province.
