Mexico and Spain expand support for aging populations
In Mexico, the food industry is stepping up its role in senior health. Corporativo Kosmos, through the Fundación Pablo Landsmanas, supplies regular food donations and comprehensive nutrition programs to the San Judas Tadeo elderly home, aiming to improve physical and emotional well‑being of more than 17 million Mexican adults aged 60 and over.
In Spain’s Barcelona province, the rise in single‑person households and longer life expectancy is driving a surge in demand for at‑home senior care. Families are increasingly hiring hourly caregivers in coastal towns such as Sitges and in the metropolitan area of Terrassa to address loneliness, assist with daily tasks, and monitor conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, which is becoming more prevalent among the region’s elderly.
Both initiatives reflect growing recognition that proper nutrition and personalized home support are essential to prevent chronic illness, reduce isolation, and maintain autonomy for older adults.
