Mexico and United Nations collaborate on women's entrepreneurship and youth leadership

The Mexican government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are collaborating to evaluate the impact of the ‘Mujeres al Centro’ municipal entrepreneurship program. A recent meeting in Mexico City brought together program graduates to discuss personal and economic transformations resulting from the training. The evaluation project, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding between Mayor Yolanda Osuna Huerta and UNDP representative Silvia Morimoto, aims to identify best practices and strengthen the program's capacity for gender-focused economic resilience.

Since 2022, ‘Mujeres al Centro’ has supported approximately 8,000 women with training, equipment, and financial aid. The evaluation phase is scheduled to run from May through October 2026.

In a separate initiative, members of Juventudes 2030 Sinaloa participated in a dialogue and training session with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the UN System in Mexico City. The meeting focused on strengthening youth leadership and participation in alignment with the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. The session allowed young leaders from Sinaloa to exchange experiences and learn about mechanisms for community-based initiatives on a national and international scale.
