Mexico and U.S. sign agreement for drone and counter-drone technology access
The Mexican Army and the United States Army have signed a non-binding “Declaration of Intent” to expand bilateral cooperation and facilitate Mexico's access to unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) technologies.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Mexican Army Commander Major General Héctor Ávila Alcocer and U.S. Army Secretary Daniel Patrick Driscoll. This instrument will allow the Mexican Ministry of Defense to access the digital market to acquire drones and tools designed to detect, identify, or neutralize unauthorized unmanned aircraft.
This collaboration follows established military cooperation mechanisms between the two nations since 2016. The move aims to strengthen Mexico's strategic and operational capabilities, particularly as organized crime groups have increasingly utilized drone technology for surveillance and other activities near the border.
