Mexico announces national school drawing and choir competitions

Mexican authorities have launched two major national competitions for students to promote creativity and culture. The Secretariat of Women of the State of Tlaxcala (SMET) has invited children and adolescents to participate in the “Margarita Maza” 2026 National Drawing Contest. The competition focuses on the role of women in education and community knowledge, with categories for primary and secondary students. Winners will receive cash prizes of up to 25,000 pesos.

Additionally, President Claudia Sheinbaum introduced the first National School Choir Contest. The initiative aims to ensure every public school in the country has at least one choir. The competition includes categories for primary school, secondary school, and Mexican Sign Language (LSM). Following state and regional stages, the final event is scheduled to take place in the Zócalo of Mexico City on March 28.
