Mexico national school arts competitions

Overview

Mexican authorities, including President Claudia Sheinbaum and the Secretariat of Public Education, have launched initiatives to promote artistic education through national student competitions.

The first National School Choir Contest aims to ensure every public school in the country eventually hosts at least one choir. The competition includes categories for primary, secondary, and Mexican Sign Language (LSM) to promote inclusivity. The contest is scheduled to progress through state and regional stages, culminating in a performance in the Zócalo of Mexico City on March 28, 2027.

In a related cultural effort, the Secretariat of Women of the State of Tlaxcala introduced the ‘Margarita Maza’ 2026 National Drawing Contest. This competition focuses on the role of women in education and community knowledge, offering cash prizes to primary and secondary students.
