Mexico Announces Winners of Entornos Sonoros 2026 and Launches Saltillo Band Competition

The Mexican Secretariat of Culture, through the National Sound Archive, announced the results of the "Entornos Sonoros 2026" call. Out of 296 submitted sound‑art and acousmatic composition proposals from across the country, twelve works were selected for recognition, a monetary prize and inclusion in the archive's collection, preserving the nation's sonic heritage.

Separately, the venue Taberna Malasaña in Saltillo opened registrations for the "Presea Malasaña Mejor Banda 2026" contest. The competition, aimed at independent local bands, offers a prize fund exceeding 60,000 pesos and will feature the twenty selected groups in a series of live performances over ten weeks. Applicants must be based in Saltillo, submit recordings, videos and technical riders, and the selection will consider musical quality, originality and stage presence.
