Mexican authorities have arrested Francisco Javier, known as ‘El Trompas’, in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Spanish student Claudia Tacoronte in Cuautla, Morelos. Tacoronte, a student from the University of Granada, was in Mexico on an academic exchange program with the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos when she was killed on September 12.

The Morelos Prosecutor's Office is pursuing charges of feminicide, citing the nature of the victim's injuries, and intends to seek the maximum sentence of 70 years in prison. While some officials suggested the motive might have been robbery, the prosecutor maintains that the killing supports a gender-based violence classification.
