Mexico authorities seize 700 kg of marijuana on Chiapas highway
Mexico’s Fuerza de Reacción Inmediata Pakal detained three suspects travelling from Mexico City toward Ciudad Hidalgo on the Tuxtla Gutiérrez‑Arriaga highway in Chiapas. Inside a Ford F‑350 they found 92 packages of marijuana weighing about 691 kg, along with three mobile phones and the two vehicles, all handed to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office for investigation.
The operation follows a recent naval interception in the Pacific off Puerto Chiapas where the Mexican Navy seized a boat carrying roughly 1.5 tonnes of cocaine, an action estimated to have deprived organized crime of more than US$19 million.
Both seizures underline heightened security efforts against large‑scale drug trafficking in the southern state.
