Mexico automotive industry strengthens talent pipeline for electromobility

The National Auto Parts Industry (INA) and the National Center for Higher Education Evaluation (CENEVAL) announced a partnership to develop specialised talent for Mexico’s automotive sector by 2030. At a workshop held during Automechanika México 2026, representatives from industry, universities and certification bodies discussed the use of micro‑credentials to certify skills in AI, data analytics, robotics, software, cybersecurity and electrification. The collaboration aims to align curricula with the rapid digital and electric transformation of vehicle manufacturing.

Separately, the Instituto Tecnológico de Aguascalientes (ITA) is designing a new degree in Electromobility, incorporating feedback from regional automotive firms. Consultations held in León, Guanajuato, identified the specific competencies required for electric‑driven vehicles. The programme is slated to launch next year, complementing existing specialisations such as semiconductor engineering and further expanding Mexico’s capacity to supply qualified professionals for the emerging electric‑mobility market.
