Mexico braces for extreme heat, storms and strong winds

Mexico will face a complex weather pattern as tropical waves 8 and 9 intersect with other atmospheric systems. In northern states such as Coahuila, temperatures are expected to rise to 40‑45 °C, accompanied by isolated rain showers, thunderstorms, hail and wind gusts of 50‑70 km/h that could stir dust storms.

The storm system also threatens heavy to very heavy rainfall across numerous central and southern states, raising the risk of floods and landslides. Protection Civil has warned residents to avoid travel near water bodies and unstable slopes, to stay hydrated, and to follow local authorities’ instructions. Emergency units remain on alert to activate temporary shelters if needed.
