Mexico calls for school maintenance and more classrooms

As the new school year approaches in Mexico, authorities and educators are calling for improved infrastructure and maintenance to ensure student safety and accommodate growing demand.

In Hermosillo, directors of schools such as Jardín de Niños Alicia Cano Cano and Jardín de Niños Misiones have requested that the Secretaría de Educación y Cultura (SEC) perform cleaning and fumigation services. Concerns were raised regarding overgrown weeds, accumulated trash, and the presence of wildlife, including a reported snake sighting near school grounds.

Simultaneously, legislative representatives have urged the federal government to address educational shortages in rapidly growing municipalities. Proposals include the deployment of mobile classrooms to provide provisional spaces for students on waiting lists, alongside calls for the continued construction of permanent primary and secondary school facilities to reduce educational gaps.
