Mexico City and Edomex vehicle restrictions for September 12

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the Hoy No Circula program will restrict vehicle circulation in the 16 boroughs of Mexico City and various municipalities in the State of Mexico.

Vehicles with hologram 2 are prohibited from driving between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM (or 11:00 PM according to some reports), regardless of their license plate ending. Additionally, vehicles with hologram 1 and even-numbered license plate endings are restricted.

Exempt from these restrictions are vehicles with holograms 00 and 0, electric and hybrid vehicles, passenger transport, and vehicles with hologram 1 and odd-numbered license plate endings.

The restrictions also apply to several municipalities in the State of Mexico, including Ecatepec, Naucalpan, Nezahualcóyotl, and Toluca. Drivers who violate these rules face fines ranging from 20 to 30 times the Unit of Measure and Update (UMA), totaling between $2,346.80 and $3,519.30 pesos. The Comisión Ambiental de la Megalópolis (CAMe) has stated that no extraordinary double restriction is planned for this date.
