Mexico City and Estado de México vehicle restrictions for September

Vehicle restrictions and mandatory verification schedules are in effect for Mexico City and the State of Mexico for September 2026.

Under the Hoy No Circula program, vehicles with yellow stickers, license plate endings 5 or 6, and holograms 1 or 2 are prohibited from circulating on Monday, September 7, between 5:00 and 22:00. This restriction applies across the 16 boroughs of Mexico City and various municipalities in the State of Mexico. Exemptions include electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as those with hologram 00 or 0.

Regarding mandatory emissions testing, the Secretaría del Medio Ambiente (Sedema) has announced the verification calendar for the second half of the year. Drivers with pink stickers (plate endings 7 and 8) must complete their verification during September. Drivers with red stickers (plate endings 3 and 4) may begin their verification window during September and October. Authorities remind motorists to schedule appointments in advance to avoid fines.
