Mexico City and Morelia Host August Mushroom Festivals

The Cultural Complex Los Pinos in Mexico City will hold its Festival de los Hongos Silvestres on August 1‑2, offering free entry, cooking demonstrations, workshops and stalls featuring producers from the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Milpa Alta, Tlalpan and Xochimilco. Attendees are advised to arrive early, bring cash and expect modest spending of 200‑350 pesos per person for food.

In Morelia, the third edition of Fungifest will also run on August 1‑2 at the Colegio de Morelia. Organized by Jessica Duran López of Capacitur Morelia, the event will showcase over 50 exhibitors and 100 brands, with scientific talks on medicinal and psychoactive mushrooms, guided forest forays, culinary presentations by local chefs, and a recycling initiative. The festival is free, family‑friendly and pet‑friendly.
