Mexico City and State of Mexico enforce Hoy No Circula bans on July 6 and 8, 2026

On Monday 6 July 2026, the Hoy No Circula program prohibits vehicles bearing yellow verification stickers, with license plates ending in 5 or 6 and holograms 1 or 2, from circulating between 05:00 and 22:00 in the 16 boroughs of Mexico City and 18 adjoining municipalities of the State of Mexico. Vehicles exempt from the restriction include those with holograms 00 or 0, electric or hybrid cars, school transport, hazardous‑waste carriers and public‑safety services.

On Wednesday 8 July 2026, the program extends to cars with red verification stickers, plates ending in 3 or 4, holograms 1 or 2, and those holding provisional permits. The same geographic area is covered, and the rule also applies to vehicles registered in the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Morelos, Puebla and Tlaxcala that meet the respective verification standards. Exemptions are identical to those on the 6 July restriction. Drivers who violate either day's ban face a fine of 20 to 30 times the Unidad de Medida y Actualización (UMA), roughly $2,350–$3,520. No official changes to the program have been announced; it continues operating under the existing schedule.
