Mexico City, State of Mexico enforce Hoy No Circula limits Aug 2026

The environmental program Hoy No Circula continues to operate in the Mexico City metropolitan area, covering the 16 boroughs of CDMX and 18 municipalities of the State of Mexico. For August 2, 3 and 5 2026, the program restricts circulation of vehicles that match specific plate endings and verification holograms. On Aug 2, red‑sticker cars with plates ending 3 or 4 and holograms 1 or 2 are prohibited. On Aug 3, yellow‑sticker cars with plates ending 5 or 6 and holograms 1 or 2 are prohibited. On Aug 5, the same red‑sticker criteria as Aug 2 apply. The restrictions run from 05:00 to 22:00 local time.

Exempt vehicles include those with holograms 00 or 0, electric and hybrid cars, emergency services, public transport, vehicles for persons with disabilities and other categories defined by the Comisión Ambiental de la Megalópolis (CAMe). Violations carry fines of 20‑30 times the Unidad de Medida y Actualización (about $2,346‑$3,519). The program was expanded to additional municipalities of the State of Mexico on 1 July 2025, and no further changes have been announced.
