Mexico City and State of Mexico enforce Hoy No Circula vehicle bans on July 20‑21, 2026

The Hoy No Circula environmental program limited vehicle traffic in the Mexico City metropolitan area on consecutive days in July 2026.

On Tuesday, 21 July, cars with a pink license‑plate sticker and plate numbers ending in 7 or 8 that carry verification holograms 1 or 2 were prohibited from circulating between 05:00 and 22:00 across all 16 boroughs of Mexico City and 18 adjoining municipalities of the State of Mexico.

On Monday, 20 July, the restriction applied to vehicles with a yellow plate sticker and plate numbers ending in 5 or 6, also bearing holograms 1 or 2.

Vehicles exempt from the bans include those with hologram 00 or 0, electric and hybrid cars, motorcycles, public‑transport buses, emergency services, and vehicles used by persons with disabilities. Authorities have not declared a "Double Hoy No Circula" phase, which would add stricter limits only when an environmental contingency is announced.
