Mexico City vehicle restrictions for Hoy No Circula on September 5

The Hoy No Circula program will be in effect on Saturday, September 5, 2026, to regulate vehicle mobility and control air quality in the Valley of Mexico. The restrictions apply from 05:00 to 22:00 hours across the 16 boroughs of Mexico City and various municipalities in the State of Mexico, including Ecatepec, Naucalpan, and Nezahualcóyotl.

Vehicles subject to restrictions include all cars with hologram 2 and cars with hologram 1 that have odd-numbered license plate endings (1, 3, 5, 7, and 9). Additionally, all foreign-plated vehicles are prohibited from circulating during the restricted hours.

Exempt from these restrictions are vehicles with holograms 00 or 0, electric and hybrid vehicles, agricultural tractors, motorcycles, and certain specialized machinery. The Comisión Ambiental de la Megalópolis (CAMe) has confirmed there is no double restriction (Doble Hoy No Circula) in effect, as no environmental contingency has been declared. Drivers who violate these rules face fines ranging from 20 to 30 times the Unidad de Medida y Actualización (UMA), approximately 2,346 to 3,519 pesos.
