Mexico City Announces New Route and Official Apparel for 2026 Medium Marathon
The Mexico City government revealed details of the XIX Medium Marathon, scheduled for 12 July 2026. A new 21‑km course will start at the Hemiciclo a Juárez in Alameda Central, pass landmarks including Plaza de la República, Monumento a la Revolución, Paseo de la Reforma, Ángel de la Independencia, Diana Cazadora, the National Anthropology Museum, Auditorio Nacional, Campo Marte, Monte Apalaches, Avenida Toluca, the Tercera Sección of Chapultepec, Avenida de los Compositores and Calzada Chivatito before finishing at the Ángel de la Independencia.
Organizers also unveiled official shirts and medals. The Medium Marathon shirt features a pink‑Mexican hue with a circular medallion showing the city’s monuments, while the Marathon shirt uses a turquoise tone with maize, floral and feathered‑serpent motifs. The medals display a golden‑toned hummingbird and cultural symbols. Registration hit the 30,000‑spot limit within hours, prompting an extra 5,000 slots that quickly filled.
Sport Secretary Javier Hidalgo, representing Governor Clara Brugada Molina, said the event aims to boost physical activity, public‑space use and equitable access to sport across the capital.
