Mexico City authorities investigate death of Colombian woman in Airbnb

Authorities in Mexico City are investigating the death of Nataly Osma Pinilla, a 29-year-old Colombian national found dead in an Airbnb located in the Tabacalera neighborhood. The incident occurred following celebrations for Mexico's Independence Day.

Reports indicate that Osma Pinilla and her friend, Laura Zapata Ríos, dined at a Mr. Sushi restaurant in the Reforma 222 shopping center on September 15. Both women reportedly felt ill and experienced vomiting after the meal. When Osma Pinilla was discovered the following morning, she was lying on her bed without vital signs.

Preliminary investigations suggest the cause of death may be bronchoaspiration, as the victim was found lying on her back with vomit around her. The Mexico City Prosecutor's Office has launched a formal investigation, and medical experts are conducting studies to determine the official cause of death. The Colombian Embassy and Consulate in Mexico have been notified to assist the family with identification and repatriation processes.
