Mexico City authorities investigate dog poisonings in Parque España

Authorities in Mexico City have launched an investigation into the suspected poisoning of dogs in Parque España, located in the Condesa neighborhood of the Cuauhtémoc borough. The investigation follows reports from a veterinary clinic and pet owners regarding animals ingesting toxic substances during walks.

During inspections of the park, security forces and the Animal Surveillance Brigade (BVA) discovered suspicious baits, including a piece of sausage containing a blue pill and other meat scraps. While official reports confirm at least two deaths, local residents and unofficial accounts suggest the number of fatalities may be higher, with several other animals requiring urgent medical attention.

The Mexico City Prosecutor's Office (FGJCDMX) has opened a case for animal cruelty. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and collecting statements from pet owners, while also requesting assistance from veterinary specialists to determine the exact nature of the toxins used.
