Mexico City commemorates 58th anniversary of Tlatelolco massacre

Approximately 8,000 demonstrators, including students, unions, and social organizations, marched through Mexico City to commemorate the 58th anniversary of the Tlatelolco massacre. The march proceeded from the Plaza de las Tres Culturas to the Zócalo.

Organized by the Committee 68 ‘Pro Libertades Democráticas’, the protesters expressed solidarity with various social movements and called for a comprehensive examination of the state repression against the 1968 student movement. The event serves as a symbolic commemoration of the Mexican democratic movement.

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo expressed solidarity with those who lived through the massacre and spoke in favor of state responsibility for the events of October 2, 1968.
