Mexico City electoral institute opens sanction cases; analyst assesses Peru's Fujimori election win
The Permanent Commission of Complaints of the Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) approved three special sanction procedures to investigate possible electoral infractions, including personalized promotion, misuse of public resources and gender‑based political violence against women. The commission cited sufficient preliminary evidence to deepen the analysis of each case and ordered further investigations.
In Peru, political analyst Miguel Rodríguez Albán said the legal challenges to the virtual election results favoring Keiko Fujimori have little juridical basis and that the official results are likely to be confirmed in the coming weeks. He warned that any new Fujimori administration would need to focus on national reconciliation, regional development gaps, and combating crime, while respecting constitutional limits and fundamental rights.
