Mexico City faces flooding and Metro disruptions

Heavy rainfall has caused widespread flooding and logistical disruptions across Mexico City and surrounding areas. In the Tláhuac borough, specifically in neighborhoods like San José and San Mateo, over 200 homes have been affected by rising waters, prompting authorities to launch the ‘Plan Tlaloque 2.0’ to manage the emergency.

In Chalco, intense precipitation led to significant flooding on major roads, with water levels reaching up to 30 centimeters in several areas. Emergency crews have been deployed to pump out water and clear drainage systems to restore mobility.

Simultaneously, the Mexico City Metro is facing service interruptions. A scheduled maintenance closure of nine stations on Line 12, between Lomas Estrella and Tláhuac, has caused significant delays and long queues for commuters. While the Red de Transporte de Pasajeros (RTP) has deployed buses to cover the affected stretch, users have reported organizational difficulties during the transition.
