Mexico City Half Marathon Attracts Over 35,000 Runners in 2026 BBVA Event

The 19th edition of the BBVA Medio Maratón 2026 took place in Mexico City, drawing more than 35,000 elite and recreational runners along a 21.097‑kilometre course that wound through iconic avenues such as Paseo de la Reforma and finished at the Angel of Independence. Kenyan athletes dominated the elite fields, with Simon Maywa Nullo winning the men’s race in 1:04:36 and Gladys Cherop Longari taking the women’s title in 1:12:19. Prize money of 50,000 pesos was awarded to each overall winner, with lower amounts for second and third places.

The race featured a revamped route that started at the Hemiciclo a Juárez, passed through the historic centre, Chapultepec forest, and returned to Reforma. Adaptive‑sport categories were highlighted, awarding top spots in visual‑disability and wheelchair divisions for both men and women. Officials from the city’s sports, tourism and public safety departments attended the award ceremony, underscoring the event’s emphasis on inclusion and public engagement.
