Mexico City Half Marathon expands entry, adds 300 free spots for runners

The Mexico City Half Marathon (Medio Maratón CDMX) reached its 30,000‑runner registration limit, prompting the city government to open an additional 300 free entries. Mayor Clara Brugada announced the extra spots via social media, urging interested runners to monitor the Institute of Sport of Mexico City’s official channels for registration details.

Organizers also noted that the event will host about 35,000 participants after increasing the overall capacity by 5,000 runners. The race will start at the Hemiciclo on Avenida Juárez and finish at the Angel of Independence. Metro lines 1, 2, 3 and 9 will begin service two hours early at 05:00 a.m. on Sunday to facilitate athlete and spectator travel, and registered runners can ride free throughout the system by showing their competitor numbers. Runner kits have been distributed at the Expo held in the World Trade Center.

Officials emphasized that the expanded entry and transport measures respond to strong community demand and aim to ensure safety and logistical efficiency for the large sporting event.
