Mexico City hosts free electronic waste recycling event
The Mexico City Ministry of the Environment (Sedema) has announced a new edition of 'Reciclatrón', a free electronic waste collection event. The initiative will take place on October 9 and 10, from 09:00 to 16:00, at the Pabellón de Cultura Comunitaria.
The program aims to promote the proper disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) to prevent hazardous substances from contaminating soil and water. Accepted items include computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, mobile phones, audio and video players, small household appliances, and batteries.
To ensure safety and compliance, authorities will not accept energy-saving light bulbs, fluorescent lamps, modems, public wiring, or equipment that is already disassembled, broken, or contaminated. All collected materials will be sent to authorized companies for safe dismantling and the recovery of raw materials and components for reuse in circular economy processes.
