Mexico City inaugurates Xólotl animal welfare center

Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada Molina has inaugurated the “Xólotl” Integral Animal Welfare and Coexistence Center in the Venustiano Carranza borough. Spanning over 50,000 square meters with an investment of 112 million pesos, the facility is considered the largest of its kind in Mexico. It is designed to house up to 600 dogs and cats, providing medical care, rehabilitation, and socialization to facilitate responsible adoption.

In separate urban developments, the Mexico City government has completed the expropriation of a building in the Historic Center to provide social housing through the Institute of Housing (INVI). Additionally, the administration reported significant progress in the 2017 earthquake reconstruction program, noting that 20,556 homes have been delivered to date, with a 97 percent completion rate for affected properties.

Recent reconstruction efforts include the delivery of three buildings in Coyoacán and Cuauhtémoc, representing a combined investment of approximately 190 million pesos for various residential projects.
