Mexico City launches reintegration program for youth in legal contact

The Mexico City Government Secretariat (SECGOB), through the Institute of Social Reintegration (IRS), has launched the “Building New Routes” workshop. This initiative is designed for adolescents and young adults in contact with the law across various specialized centers in Mexico.

The program utilizes a psychoeducational approach to help participants develop emotional self-regulation, peaceful coexistence, and responsible decision-making skills. It aims to strengthen protective factors to facilitate successful social and family reintegration.

The workshop follows a hybrid model involving representatives from 32 entities. Sessions are scheduled from August 2026 to February 2027, with initial activities taking place in Puebla, Mexico City, and the State of Mexico.
