Mexico City Marathon to host 30,000 runners this Sunday

The Mexico City Marathon is scheduled to take place this Sunday, August 30. The event expects to host over 30,000 participants, marking a significant growth from its inaugural 1983 edition which featured approximately 7,500 runners.

The race route begins at Avenida Insurgentes, near the Biblioteca Central and the Olympic Stadium Universitario, and concludes at the Zócalo. The competition features staggered start times: wheelchair and visually impaired athletes start at 05:45, followed by the women's elite at 05:50, the men's elite at 06:00, and subsequent blocks for general participants.

Participants can collect their kits at the World Trade Center in Mexico City on August 27, 28, and 29. Kit collection is personal and requires official identification and proof of registration.
