These options follow a modification to the General Law of Ecological Equilibrium and Environmental Protection, which mandates that federal authorities collaborate with local governments to promote public veterinary clinics for preventive care and treatment.

With approximately 23 million companion animals in Mexico, of which 70% are estimated to be abandoned, these services aim to encourage responsible ownership and disease control. One available option is a free clinic located in Jardín Pushkin, in the Cuauhtémoc borough, which provides medical attention as well as free bathing and grooming services from Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 15:00.
