Chilean authorities formalize 19 members of suspected PCC criminal cell
Chilean authorities have formalized 19 members of what is believed to be the first cell of the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) operating within the country. The PCC is a powerful Brazilian transnational criminal organization known for its involvement in drug trafficking, smuggling, and violent crime.
The formalization process, conducted by the Metropolitan South Regional Prosecutor's Office, concluded this Sunday. Of the 19 individuals, nine were placed in pretrial detention. The remaining 10 suspects were already in custody due to previous criminal convictions or precautionary measures.
The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the PDI and international cooperation, utilizing intelligence from the triple border region between Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina. Authorities also shared information with the U.S. DEA, which led to the seizure of war rifles intended for Brazil via Paraguay.
