Mexico City Saturday 'Hoy No Circula' limits on vehicles Aug 8, 2026

On Saturday, 8 August 2026, the Hoy No Circula program will restrict vehicle circulation in Mexico City and several municipalities of the State of Mexico. The rule, administered by the Secretaría de Medio Ambiente de la Ciudad de México (SEDEMA) and the Comisión Ambiental de la Megalópolis, applies from 05:00 to 22:00. Vehicles bearing hologram 1 with an even‑ending license plate, as well as all cars with hologram 2, must remain parked during those hours. Exemptions include vehicles with hologram 0 or 00, electric and hybrid cars, and passenger‑transport vehicles that have current verification.

The restrictions cover the 16 boroughs of Mexico City and a list of adjacent municipalities in the State of Mexico, such as Atizapán de Zaragoza, Coacalco de Berriozábal, Ecatepec de Morelos, Huixquilucan, Tlalnepantla de Baz, among others. Drivers who violate the program face fines of 20 to 30 times the Unidad de Medida y Actualización (approximately $2,347 to $3,520). The measure aims to lower air‑pollution levels in the Valley of Mexico, which continues to experience poor air quality.
