Mexico City water‑related road closures and cracks in San Juan de Aragón

Heavy rain on Wednesday night caused up to 60 cm of standing water on Avenida Gran Canal in the San Juan de Aragón area of Mexico City. The flooding covered three westbound lanes for more than 200 m, prompting the city’s Public Safety Secretariat to close the road between Circuito Interior and Oriente 157 and deploy motor‑pump crews for drainage. Several drivers reported loss of front license plates, which a local resident collected and returned for a tip.

Separately, municipal authorities identified a nearly kilometre‑long crack on Avenida José Loreto Fabela in San Juan de Aragón, attributing the fissure to multiple water‑pipe leaks. The damage was reported by the Gustavo A. Madero borough and the water agency Segiagua, highlighting ongoing infrastructure challenges in the capital’s northern districts.
