Mexico construction production grows 6.9% annually

Data from INEGI’s National Survey of Construction Companies (ENEC) indicates that construction production in Mexico grew by 0.1% monthly and 6.9% annually, reaching a total of 55,295.6 million pesos. This growth is primarily driven by public works.

Specific sectors showing significant increases include Water, Irrigation, and Sanitation (+303.3%), Railway Works (+249.9%), and Electricity and Energy Generation (+81.9%). Conversely, Urbanization and Transport saw a decline of 31.9%. Regarding labor, personnel occupation rose by 0.1% monthly and 0.9% annually, while real average wages fell by 0.5% monthly but increased by 2.2% annually.

In the state of Veracruz, the recovery in construction production is reversing previous negative trends, supported by federal, state, and municipal infrastructure projects such as roads and urban streets. Reports from the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) also note annual recoveries between 31% and 37% in the sector during the early months of the year.
