Mexico deploys fourth contingent of specialists to fight Canadian wildfires

The Mexican government has dispatched its fourth contingent of specialized personnel to assist in fighting forest fires in Canada. This group consists of 102 individuals, including 100 firefighters and two technical experts, sourced from various Mexican states and agencies such as the National Forestry Commission (Conafor) and the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (Conanp).

This deployment increases the total number of Mexican specialists currently operating in Canada to over 300. These teams are active in Ontario, supporting efforts at the Rinker Lake, Dryden, and Atikokan complexes, as well as in British Columbia, where a Mexican Incident Management Team is assisting at the Big Bar complex. This marks the first time Mexico has deployed a dedicated Incident Management Team to support Canadian wildfire efforts.

The combatants are tasked with direct fire attacks, extinguishing hot spots using manual tools and Mark 3 high-pressure pumps, heat recognition, and clearing dangerous trees.
