Mexico dismantles large clandestine synthetic drug lab in Chihuahua

Federal authorities in the state of Chihuahua carried out a coordinated operation that dismantled a clandestine laboratory used to produce synthetic drugs. The raid, led by the Guardia Nacional, the Mexican Army and the Federal Prosecutor's Office (FGR), secured a facility equipped with organic synthesis reactors, centrifuges, large volumes of chemical precursors and a motorcycle. The seized assets were valued at roughly 2.96 billion pesos in estimated criminal losses.

The FGR continued to pack, transport and destroy the seized chemicals and equipment, noting that more than 55,000 liters of liquid chemicals, over 50 tonnes of solid materials and around 2,000 liters of methamphetamine were recovered. Because of the volume, the destruction and disposal process remains ongoing, with a specialized company handling the hazardous waste. A parallel investigation is examining possible foreign involvement in the lab’s activities.

No arrests have been reported, and the site remains under federal guard while the dismantling and decontamination work proceeds.
