Mexican Peso Holds Near 17.5 per US Dollar on July 24, 2026

On Friday, 24 July 2026, the US dollar traded around 17.5 pesos in Mexico. The Bank of Mexico reported an official rate of 17.5130 MXN per USD, while commercial banks quoted sale prices between 17.38 MXN (Santander) and 17.94 MXN (Banamex). Regional figures were similar: Jalisco opened at about 17.50 MXN, Cancún’s closing estimate was 17.99 MXN, and the Yucatán peninsula saw the same 17.46 MXN rate.

The peso’s slight depreciation followed the release of INEGI data showing annual inflation at 3.10 %, the lowest recent reading but accompanied by a slowdown in economic activity and a stronger global dollar. Market analysts noted the peso fell 0.67 % against the dollar after the inflation report, reflecting caution despite the inflation drop. The combined effect of domestic indicators and the dollar’s global strength kept the exchange rate stable around the mid‑17 MXN level throughout the day.
